The controller will help ALM achieve its financial objectives. In addition, the controller will ensure the company’s financial performance is reported in an accurate and timely manner.


What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

  1. Preparation and distribution of the overall managerial and financial accounting reports. Update and maintain financial planning and reporting systems, as required to aid in day-to-day decision making. Reporting, monthly, year-to-date, and annually as required by management and investment stakeholders.
  2. Clearly communicate financial performance; monitor progress and changes to keep management informed of financial status.
  3. Work with Management to facilitate and lead short-term and long-term financial forecasting activities.
  4. Oversee weekly cash management, including cash forecasting, payment of accounts payable, collection of accounts receivable, and cash controls.
  5. Partner with operations and other cross-functional disciplines to establish desired financial results, including identifying opportunities for operational improvements, revenue enhancements, and cost reductions.
  6. Analyze financial data, including the comparison of actual vs. planned results, identifying, interpreting, and eliminating variances as required.
  7. Support the company’s business development efforts, including participation in product pricing decisions, milestone payment development, and cost-pricing audit activities, as required.
  8. Work with Management in coordinating and summarizing monthly Gross Profit Status reviews.
  9. Perform account analysis and reconciliations to support month-end journal entries and month-end G/L balances, for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of the company’s financial statements.
  10. Work with appropriate department managers and assist in the creation of metrics and key performance indicators to identify operational improvements by gaining an understanding of financial results at a shop-floor level.
  11. Oversee the training and development of department personnel and supervises the day-to-day accounting functions, accounting staff, and department meetings/communication, ensuring backups for all functions.
  12. Assist in maintaining and protecting the company’s physical assets, including but not limited to maintaining an equipment inventory list.
  13. Participate in the annual budget through close coordination with other department managers, and conduct special analyses, reports, and projects, as requested.
  14. Monitor customer purchase orders and processes and maintain job files.
  15. Support matters related to state and federal corporate income tax.
  16. Participates in the coordination of employee benefits, including enrollment, billing, and reporting.
  17. Additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, a related field, or equivalent experience. CMA or CPA license preferred.
  2. Experience in project-based manufacturing, engineering, or related business is strongly preferred.
  3. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll, Budgets, and Financial Analysis.
  4. Experience with the appropriate computer system and financial software.
  5. History of working successfully in a cross-functional environment to maximize financial performance.
  6. The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of moderately complex problems.
  7. Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings.
